Director: Andrew Ware Lewis
Assistant Director: Andrew Coopman
Musical Director: Kari Papst
Choreographer: Annie Stillar

In this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza, Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty ("Ragtime," "Once On This Island") have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Join CYT next spring and step inside your favorite Dr. Seuss book with his show that has become one of the most-performed shows in America! Artistic Team:

Andrew Ware Lewis Andrew earned his B.A. in theatre from Whitworth University and has spent the last nine years teaching theatre at Northwest Christian Schools. This year completing his master’s in education administration with a principal internship at Northwood Middle School and Mt. Spokane High School. Andrew has thoroughly enjoyed being an active member of the Spokane theatre community. Recent roles onstage include the Prince in Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre’s Cinderella, the Balladeer in Assassins and Dan Lockwood in Singin’ in the Rain, both at the Spokane Civic Theatre. His portrayal of Lieutenant Frank Cioffi in this year’s Civic production of Curtains earned him the Spokie for Best Leading Actor in a musical. Having directed for Spokane Civic Theatre and Interplayers, Andrew is excited to join the CYT family directing Seussical the Musical, one of his favorite musicals.

Andrew Coopman Andrew is beyond excited to be a part of CYT Spokane's 2010-2011 show season. Andrew is currently pursuing a degree in Community Based Theater and English Literature at Whitworth University, with the intention of getting his Masters in Teaching also to be a High School English and Drama teacher and director. Coming all the way from Chicago, he has been a part of Christian Youth Theater in Chicago and, now, Spokane for the past 6 years. Andrew has taught many classes (his favorites including improv, drama, and musical theater), performed in numerous shows (including roles like Little John in Robin Hood, the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, and the Mayor of Whoville in Seussical), and has intern directed two shows prior to coming to Spokane (Seussical and Peter Pan). With that, Andrew believes that CYT Spokane is going to have an epic season and he is excited to see them rock the stage!

Kari Papst Love CYT? Hmmmm. No. I am deeply, thoroughly, and heartily passionate about CYT. It is an honor and a privilege embracing kids and families to share my gifts and skills in a milieu I adore. Just 12 very short years ago my husband Greg and I joined Amy and Bryan Pitotti to launch CYT Spokane. Here we are these years later oozing over with precious memories of fun times and incredible relationships. I serve on both the academic and artistic sides of our organization as teacher and also music director, accompanist or costumer for shows. As to training, my teacher in vocal pedagogy was Sister Marietta Coyle noted for the numerous students who work in the music industry; one being Thomas Hampson. My singing debut was at the age of 2 standing on a chair before all the men at the Union Gospel Mission. Singing and drama have always been a part of my life, which I shared with my husband and taught my children, who all 3  grew up in CYT: It was a natural fit for us. I believe in excellence and hold the bar very high because kids are truly amazing; with the right encouragement and teaching they will reach heights they wouldn't dream of, and have fun doing it. Personally, I love hospitality and host myriads of kids coming through our always open door. I love antiques, reading, yard work, investing in friendships, and I'm very involved in ministry at Life Center Church. Presently living some of the greatest challenges of my life, I have indescribable peace and exuberant joy within me in Christ. My prayer is that He will bless families and kids of CYT through me as I have been blessed by them.

Annie Stillar Born and raised in Spokane, I was a student with CYT Spokane from 1998-2002. I have been a teacher since 2004, primarily core and intermediate dance (jazz, hip-hop, tap) and beginning/advanced musical theater. I've served as choreographer for five full-length productions (Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, among others), and served on summer camp staff for CYT-Spokane and CYT-Vancouver/Portland. I have also worked with CYT North Idaho (teacher) and Lake City Playhouse (choreographer). I work full time for Whitworth University, in the English and Capital Projects departments.
